The "Creeper"
This morning in Lighting class we did a critique of our window lighting assignments (mine was the one with the antique cameras, posted in my blog earlier). The only comment he made was that there was too much space above and below. This is why I hate 8x10 cropping! Ugliest crop ever! It looked lovely cropped in camera but 8x10 chops off from the left and right sides and makes it ugly. Oh well.

Playing With Light Part 2
Here are the photos I mentioned earlier! These are class photos. We chose the camera settings as a class and the prof clicked the shutter. After that I took a flash light and lit up the subject while classmates in behind ran around with glow sticks and flash lights. So much fun!

Playing With Light
Today in Creative Design we had an awesome time with light. The prof brought in some black paper and items to photograph so we set up out mini studios and took some photos. It was a blast. We were learning about painting with light (light writing/light graffiti). Myself and two friends grabbed this green dinosaur and started shooting.
First we started out with a regular flash light. Painting...

Meeting Jason Ransom
Yesterday in my Creative Design, a photographer named Jason Ransom came to speak to our class about his work and about photography in general.
“There are only two ways to make an interesting picture. Either shoot something no one has ever seen before, or shoot a creative composition of something people see every day.”
I had never heard of Jason before and I can almost guarentee no...

A Pile of Gems: Advice to young photographers →
Reblogged, I’ve added my own thoughts in brackets and italized text.
“Too much of current photo blog world is about technical gadgets, lighting, and being super EXTREME about what to shoot and where. We need to counteract that kind of thinking and teach the kids that content, not photoshop, will make them successful.
Content is king!!!

Everyone Is A Critic
So Mondays Comm class didn’t actually have a quiz. It’s tomorrows Comm class that is our quiz, which I still haven’t studied for because I have no motivation to open my bizarre textbook (let’s just say there is a picture of clown nudity in it). We did however have an in-class assignment where we had to write an on-the-spot 10 minutes movie critique (since our class is about...

Week One Done, Semester 2
Thursdays Lighting class this week is somewhat disappointing, because our class size is larger than all of the other classes and our prof says this will be a space issue. Some of the other classes got to already use the lights which I was really looking forward to, but I will just have to wait until next class or sign my name and use them not during spare time. I hope the size of the class...

Camera Porn
Somehow all my friends shoot Canon and I’m the lone Nikon. Took these during break just for practice.

Duck Love
Today was a good day! Unfortunately, since I have Comm (they call it English for visual design students) three days a week, I had that first this afternoon. We talked about slang and formal wording, how words can be misinterpreted, how we should talk professional and act professional, and we had a conversation about the politically correct term for sex. Yes, I’m serious. It’s hard to...

Second Semester, Day 1
Today was the first day back from the Christmas holidays. Unlike most college/uni kids, I only get two weeks off and not three, so that stinks. It felt like a really long day. First days always move so slowly because you have to go through all the basics again.
I already know I hate one of my classes, which from this point on will be called Comm (Professional Communication for Visual Design). It...
